Tensegrity
The research thesis aimed at the physical and parametric study of a double layered kinetic actuated tensegrity system for responsive architecture. By having a specific response in mind as a point of departure, the study focused on the analysis of a simple unit and then its applications on to a system, monitoring its behaviour. The research focuses on the technical feasibility of such a structure. The present research project involved the study of a two way actuated tensegrity grid with the ultimate scope of generating sophisticated building envelopes that can respond to changes in the environment. The objective in this study was to build a system that opens and closes, controlling the light admission within a space.
