Primary School Competition
Brief
Blackstone Architects are a young architectural practice. We are preparing a student design competition with a school of architecture to design a new school in Crawley, West Sussex. We would like the entrants to consider issues of Education, Architecture, integration and their relevance to a thriving multi-cultural community.
The design will be developed with the host institute/university but at this stage it is envisaged that a 6 to 8 week design atelier is established with each student submitting two A1 sheets detailing their final proposal.
The winner will earn 5 weeks paid experience with Blackstone Architects and see their project submitted for Planning. A holiday for two to Granada, Spain is also offered.
Judging Panel
The judging panel will choose three schemes from the design ateliers to exhibit at the mosque and council offices. The winning scheme will be chosen by the community. We propose to assemble a panel consisting of the below to select the winning student:
Member of Parliament Crawley
Department of Education
Academics from hosting school of architecture
Blackstone Architects/ Crawley Educational Institute: Saquab Ashraf
Blackstone Architects/ Architecture Editor Building: Ike Ijeh
Chairman of the Trustees Broadfield Mosque: Arif Syed
